Expedition Summary 5/14

On this day Longreach launched its first real foray into the wilderness beyond our preliminary site clearance under the stalwart leadership of Lord Dieterich. Reports from our brave scouting party indicate they first found a statue-now known as the Statue of Haelus due to a portion of an inscription on it-about a mile into the forest directly north of Longreach. Wilderness cartographer Scorros Illitor then started work on mapping region 300-468 before coming across a large group of stirge. The group, moving to eliminate them quickly found themselves in a deadly battle against a vile group of orcs with blue paint and clothing who appear to have goblins and boars working with them.

Lord Dieterich has mentioned he hopes the expeditions will move forward in finding the origins of these orcs and goblins in order to eliminate them, continue exploring mapped areas for more landmarks of importance, and investigate the Statue of Haelus further.

Scorros believes that stirge in the wild who have not been attacked can be weaponized against other foes relatively safely by running through a swarm and leading them to enemy positions. Attempting to kill them seems to provoke a communal hostile response that almost took the life of Kellen Stoneleaf who, despite grievous wounds was noted to have continued to fight on bravely. Breknar Swampshield was also said to have demonstrated courage, charging into a group of three orcs alone while trailing a group of stirge.

Upon finishing mapping that area they opted to name a newly discovered body of fresh water Lake Stirge and Kellen and Tyrdithas has brought back some .

Sir Calen has decreed this expedition a great success, bringing new and important information to his attention and has generously rewarded the party for their work.

Work has begun on a Lumber Yard and a General Store. Any would-be investors are recommended to make their contributions as soon as they can to aid in speeding construction so that we can get building this town in earnest and attract new settlers.

For those of you unaware, Baron Bertwyn has sent us a mix of skilled explorers, warriors, priests, and even mages to aid in securing the region of Longreach and facilitate us as we transition from our humble beginnings to what shall be the greatest city this side of Redmoor.
