Balvis was never supposed to exist, an ancient artifact supposedly from a plane that no longer exists gained sentience over centuries and found it could break magic items into their base components and absorb their materials and magics. Over time it has built itself a form and continues to accrue materials through its followers who are rewarded for their efforts through its tie to magic items. Balvis is a favored deity for eldritch knights and treasure hunters of all kinds.
